Scott believes that the most effective leaders are those who have the courage to be truly introspective and vulnerable with themselves and the areas where they need to develop thus allowing their true authentic self to shine through.
Because Scott has always been passionate about the professional and personal growth of individuals, he made the decision to retire from L’Oreal USA at the end of 2017 at 57 to leverage his diverse work experience, innate human compassion and entrepreneurial spirit to pursue his own business as a professional executive coach.
Given Scott’s decades of business and leader development experience within large organizations, he is uniquely positioned to assist leaders who are transitioning from management to leadership roles, need to expand their emotional intelligence, have increased their scope of responsibility or who may need help navigating complicated business relationships.
In his role as Group Vice President, Human Resources for L’Oreal USA’s Professional Products Division, Scott played a significant role in L’Oreal’s cultural transformation project and as a result, was responsible for the successful coaching of senior leaders within the division on leadership and change management initiatives.
In 2016, Scott further pursued his passion for the executive coaching field and earned the designation of Associate Certified Coach (ACC) from the International Coach Federation (ICF). In 2020, Scott completed the Master Coach Certification Program offered by the Worldwide Business & Executive Coach Summit (WBECS). In addition, Scott received his certification from Peter Hawkins’ Systemic Team Coaching program, as an Advanced Practitioner in the Team Diagnostic Survey and 6 Conditions of Team Effectiveness Framework, earned the Certified Practitioner In Team Coaching from the Global Team Coaching Institute and is a Certified Red Team Coach with Red Team Coaching. Scott is also a certified Hogan and HBDI facilitator as well as a certified Working Genius facilitator.
Scott brings over 27 years of experience in Human Resources Management with two global multi-national companies, L’Oreal and Unilever. Throughout Scott’s career, he has held positions of increasing responsibility as a Human Resources Generalist with a sharp focus on talent growth and development. Scott spent 17 years with L’Oreal where he worked in both the Professional and Luxe Divisions and during the last 7 years of his career at L’Oreal, Scott was the Group Vice President of the Professional Products Division where he had responsibility for over 4,500 employees and a direct H.R. team of 30 individuals.
Scott’s professional journey is not a traditional one; he moved to Los Angeles from Maryland when he was 19 to pursue his lifelong dreams of becoming an actor. Scott lived in L.A. for 9 years and because of his determination, grit and natural business acumen, he was successful enough to make his living as a working actor for the last 3 years that he lived in Los Angeles. Scott moved to New York City at 28, where he joined Unilever and while working full time, completed a 4 year degree in 4 1/2 years from New York University. Scott graduated from NYU Magna Cum Laude with a 3.87 G.P.A receiving an A.A.S in Business Management and a B.A. in Economics.
Currently, Scott and his husband John split their time between the Hudson Valley in upstate New York and Palm Springs, California.
